In October Glasgow Live interviewed Lees of Scotland New Product Development Project Manager Sheevaun Thomas.
I got involved in this type of work by chance really. My background was actually Retail Display which I studied at college and my first job was with a global packaging manufacturer as a structural designer. I worked with them for 17 years and I worked my way up through the business to become an account manager. My customers were mainly leading UK drinks and food manufacturers and I was always really interested in their side of things, so drinks or food was something that I was really keen to get involved more in.
Family life changed for me – I got married and had kids. I absolutely loved account management, but I was travelling a lot so I had a rethink and thought it would be nice to do something a bit different and more flexible due to family life but that also provided a new challenge for me.
I was contacted by a recruitment company about the new role at Lees. It wasn’t an existing role within Lees, but a new one that had been created as a result of the growth in the business. They identified the need to have a dedicated contact for all new product opportunities and a direct link between the customer and the business. I’ve been here almost 8 years now.
